Tips to Keep Your Teenager's Prom Spending in Check

Learn about how Visa's free Plan'it Prom app can help you plan a budget-friendly prom.

Transcript

Last year, students and parents spent an average of eleven hundred dollars on prom-related expenses - a 5% increase. With parents subsidizing most of the spending, teens have little incentive to cut costs.

To help teens and parents combat these rising costs, Visa created Plan'it Prom, a free smartphone app that lets users make a realistic, detailed prom budget they can stick to by helping them to track their spending.

Prom is a great opportunity to teach teens how to budget. If students want that perfect dress, fancy dinner and limo ride, they can learn how to set a budget and save for their goal.

The free Plan'it Prom app is available for iPhones and Android phones.

Bottom line: Start planning for prom now.
