Beware of Rental Car Surprises
Travel season is upon us. Here are a few ways to ensure you are getting a good deal on your rental car during any upcoming trips.
Transcript
Summer's here – and for many of us that means travel. If renting a car is on your itinerary, remember these tips:
Check your car insurance and credit card policies to see if they apply to rental cars before declining the rental company's insurance. Make sure you fully understand your fuel-refilling options and factor in whether you'll have time to refuel before dropping off the car, to avoid costly surcharges. Take advantage of discounts from organizations you belong to like AAA, AARP or frequent flyer programs.
And finally, inspect the car carefully before driving off the lot and when returning it so you're not charged for existing scratches and dents.
Bottom line: Spend your vacation savings on summer fun, not overpaying on rental car costs.
